DSS Raids Warehouse in Jalingo, Recovers Relief Materials
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have conducted a raid on a private warehouse in Sintali Ward, Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State. The operation, which took place on Sunday, resulted in the recovery of relief materials reportedly intended for disaster victims and the arrest of four individuals.
Security and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the operation in a post on X, noting that it followed intelligence from local residents who reported suspicious movements of relief supplies during the night from government stores to the private facility.
According to sources, the DSS recovered food items and other relief supplies valued at millions of naira. These materials were allegedly donated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and were meant for distribution by the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) to disaster victims.
The arrested individuals include the warehouse owner and three rice traders. Following the raid, the recovered items were transported to the DSS office in Jalingo for further investigation.
Investigators are currently working to ascertain whether the relief materials were diverted from official custody or if they were being temporarily stored at the warehouse for valid reasons.
As of this report, TSEMA has not responded to inquiries regarding the incident, and the DSS has yet to issue an official statement on the operation.
