Egypt say Dallas police officer pushed player, team director at World Cup | World Cup 2026

Dallas Police Interact with Egypt National Team During World Cup Event

DALLAS — A security incident involving the Egypt national football team occurred Friday at their hotel prior to the team’s match against Australia in the World Cup. According to team officials, a Dallas police officer intervened while team director Ibrahim Hassan and player Trezeguet were taking photos with a fan.

Local media report that the interaction escalated when the officer pushed both Hassan and Trezeguet, which prompted a complaint from team officials regarding how the situation was handled. Mohamed Morad, the Egypt national team’s media officer, confirmed that the incident occurred as a father and son sought a photo with the players. Hassan had initially approved the request.

“The security officer intervened and pushed the fan, as well as Trezeguet and Ibrahim Hassan, despite the fact that they were in their designated area,” Morad said. He added that Hassan requested the officer manage the fan in a more appropriate manner.

The Dallas Police Department (DPD) issued a statement acknowledging awareness of a video circulating on social media regarding the encounter. The department emphasized that police responded to the hotel at the request of security staff concerning an individual allegedly attempting to enter without proper credentials.

“It was later learned that the individuals weren’t displaying credentials properly, which is a requirement,” the statement said. “The situation was resolved on scene, and DPD met with representatives of the team to address their concerns. The matter has since been resolved.”

Egypt was scheduled to face Australia in the round of 32 during the ongoing World Cup, which is co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
