Fourteen Worshippers Freed After More Than Two Months of Captivity
Eda Oniyo-Ekiti, Ekiti State — Fourteen worshippers abducted during an attack on a Christ Apostolic Church crusade have been released after spending over two months in captivity. The abduction occurred on April 28, 2026, when armed assailants targeted an open-air event.
According to a report by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the victims regained their freedom around midnight on July 3, 2026. They were subsequently taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation and care.
Tragically, one of the fifteen individuals initially taken hostage died while in captivity. The remaining worshippers have been reported to be in critical physical and emotional condition.
During the attack, the officiating pastor was also killed. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the circumstances surrounding the victims’ release or identified the perpetrators responsible for the attack.
