2026 World Cup: The match was rigged for Argentina – Egypt coach, Hassan

Egyptian Coach Alleges World Cup Match Rigging

Hossam Hassan, head coach of the Egyptian national football team, has accused officials of rigging their Round of 16 match against Argentina at the 2026 World Cup.

The Pharaohs squandered a two-goal advantage, ultimately losing 3-2 in a closely contested game held Tuesday evening. Following the match, Hassan expressed his frustration over several officiating decisions.

“I will say what’s on my mind regardless of consequence,” Hassan stated. “This was clearly a rigged match and the whole world saw it.”

He further questioned the integrity of the tournament, remarking, “If they want Argentina to win so badly, why invite everyone else to participate?”

The match has drawn significant attention, and Hassan’s comments add to the ongoing discussion regarding referee decisions at high-stakes tournaments.
