Transfer: Nigerian defender signs for Swiss club, FC Basel
Nigerian defender Akpe Victory has completed a transfer to Swiss club FC Basel, according to reports by DAILY POST.
Victory, who is 19 years old, moves to FC Basel from Hungarian team Zalaegerszeg, signing a four-year contract. He has been assigned jersey number 55 for the upcoming season.
The club successfully outbid several competitors, including Rangers, Benfica, and Strasbourg, to secure his signature.
Prior to joining Zalaegerszeg, Victory played for Lithuanian club FK Banga Gargždai, which he joined in January.
With this move, Victory becomes the fourth Nigerian player to represent FC Basel, following in the footsteps of Gabriel Okolosi, Ike Shorunmu, and Philip Otele.
