Two Hunters Killed in Armed Attack in Sokoto State
TANGAZA, Sokoto State — Two hunters lost their lives following an attack by armed bandits in the Kadidda Forest on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. while the hunters were participating in what was described as a hunting exhibition.
Security analyst Makama reported that the group was ambushed by a large number of assailants armed with sophisticated weapons. Two of the hunters were shot at close range and succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Others managed to flee and later informed the Tangaza Divisional Police Headquarters about the attack.
One of the deceased has been identified as Nura Usman, a 30-year-old resident of Magonho Village. The identity of the second victim has yet to be confirmed.
In response to the attack, troops from a nearby Army Forward Operating Base, along with other security agencies, were deployed to the area. However, the attackers had fled before security forces arrived. The bodies of the deceased were subsequently transported to a local hospital for examination.
Authorities have intensified patrols and initiated a manhunt in the forest and surrounding communities in an effort to apprehend the assailants.
