‘Beg my father to set me free’ – Singer Adelakun’s 37-year-old daughter cries out

LAGOS, Nigeria — Funmi Adelakun, the daughter of well-known gospel musician Joseph Adelakun, has publicly accused her father of maltreatment and controlling behavior through a recent social media video.
In the clip shared by the account Megatestimony, the 37-year-old alleged that she has been held hostage by her family and expressed a desperate need for freedom. Funmi, who reportedly fled her family’s residence in Lagos, appealed to the public for assistance.
“I need my freedom. They should stop monitoring me,” she stated in the video. Funmi emphasized her struggle to make personal choices, urging viewers, “Please help me beg my father to set me free. What is happening now is very deep.”
She indicated that this situation has persisted for some time, adding, “I will explain better soon.”
As of the latest reports, Joseph Adelakun has not responded to Funmi’s allegations or to attempts for comment from media representatives.
