Bandits massacred 75 Muslims in Kwara community – Gov Abdulrazaq
Armed Attack Claims 75 Lives in Kwara State
KAIAMA, Nigeria – Armed assailants killed 75 individuals in the Woro and Nuku communities of the Kaiama Local Government Area on Tuesday, according to local authorities.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq made the announcement during a visit to the affected areas on Wednesday night, where he was joined by military leaders and state cabinet members.
The governor stated that the victims were targeted for resisting pressure from extremists promoting an unfamiliar doctrine. He emphasized the severity of the incident, distinguishing it from typical kidnapping cases aimed at ransom.
In response to the attack, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorized the deployment of an army battalion to the region as part of a military operation dubbed “Operation Savannah Shield.”
In addition to the fatalities, reports indicate that the armed bandits also set several homes ablaze during the assault on the communities.
