Bandits massacred 75 Muslims in Kwara community – Gov Abdulrazaq

Armed Attack in Kwara Leaves 75 Dead
KAIAMA, Nigeria — Armed assailants killed 75 individuals during an attack on the Woro and Nuku communities in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara’s North Senatorial District on Tuesday, state officials reported.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq confirmed the fatalities during a visit to the affected areas on Wednesday evening. He was accompanied by senior military officials and members of his cabinet.
The governor stated that the victims, all local Muslims, were targeted for allegedly refusing to comply with extremist demands. “This was a pure massacre, distinct from typical kidnapping for ransom,” he said.
In response to the violence, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate deployment of an army battalion to support counter-terrorism efforts under a new initiative dubbed ‘Operation Savannah Shield.’
Reports indicate that, in addition to the loss of life, the attackers set several homes ablaze during their assault on the communities.
