Peter Okoye confirms Jude’s lawsuit to stop him from performing P-square songs
Peter Okoye Alleges Legal Action by Brother Jude Okoye to Block Performance of Psquare Songs
Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has claimed that his older brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, has initiated a legal action aimed at preventing him from performing songs associated with their jointly owned music group, Psquare.
In a video posted on his official social media account, Peter responded to earlier statements made by Jude concerning the ownership of Psquare and the ongoing disputes related to the group’s business affairs.
Peter indicated that this recent lawsuit is distinct from the current case involving Northside Music and relevant government authorities, in which he asserts he is merely a witness.
“Jude served me a letter. We just had the hearing recently, and the first thing they wanted to do was stop me from performing Psquare songs,” Peter stated.
He alleged that during the latest court proceedings, Jude, along with his twin brother Paul Okoye, sought to prevent him from performing songs produced under the Psquare brand.
Additionally, Peter disputed Jude’s assertion that he played a pivotal role in bringing Psquare to Lagos in 2005, maintaining that the group’s career had already been established years prior.
“In Jude’s claim, he stated that he brought Psquare to Lagos in 2005, implying that this makes him the owner of Psquare. However, our first album was released in 2003, and we had been performing for several years and signed our first management contract before that. Where was he then?” Peter said.
He further accused Jude of still being in school during the earlier years of their career and insisted that the narrative presented in court was misleading.
“You claimed you brought us to Lagos, but in reality, we brought you to Lagos. I sold my car and financed our first house. I still have the receipts. You and Paul left when there was nothing. I stayed,” he added.
Peter’s remarks come amid a protracted disagreement between the Okoye brothers regarding the ownership and management of the Psquare brand, as well as issues related to royalties and other business interests.
The latest allegations have sparked renewed discussions online, although Jude Okoye has yet to publicly address Peter’s claims regarding the alleged legal move to stop him from performing Psquare songs.
