MTN Nigeria Celebrates 25 Years with Interactive Exhibition
LAGOS — MTN Nigeria is commemorating 25 years of service by inviting the public to revisit the transformative era when mobile phones were luxury items and quick text messages were a primary means of communication.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, the telecom giant has launched the Y’ello Street Experience, an exhibition designed to showcase the significant milestones in the company’s journey since its inception. The immersive event is taking place at MTN Plaza on Awolowo Road in Ikoyi, Lagos, running from August 10 to August 17, 2026.
This week-long exhibition provides an interactive exploration of the evolution of communication and digital life in Nigeria. Visitors are guided through various stages of technological advancement, from basic mobile phones and voice calls to the current prevalence of smartphones and digital services.
Interactive installations and nostalgic displays allow attendees to reflect on how connectivity has transformed personal communication, work, socialization, and access to opportunities over the past quarter-century.
“I remember when having a mobile phone was a big deal,” said Kunle Rasheed, a content creator. “Walking through the experience brought back a lot of memories. It’s interesting to see how far we have come.”
Visual artist Obinna Chieze praised the exhibition for highlighting the broader implications of connectivity. “What I enjoyed most was seeing how connectivity has changed everyday life,” he stated. “From simple calls and SMS to mobile banking and social media, technology has become integral to our lives.”
In addition to evoking nostalgia, the Y’ello Street Experience emphasizes the positive impact of connectivity on personal relationships, businesses, and access to information while encouraging visitors to envision the future of technology in Nigeria.
