PremiumTrust Bank announced it has received upgrades to its credit ratings from both Agusto & Co. and DataPro Limited, highlighting the institution’s financial stability, effective risk management, and ongoing growth.
Agusto raised the bank’s long-term rating from BBB+ to A- and its short-term rating from A2 to A1. Meanwhile, DataPro upgraded its long-term rating from A- to A and affirmed its short-term rating at A1. These ratings reflect the bank’s strong financial performance, which included a pre-tax profit of ₦177.1 billion and total assets reaching ₦1.7 trillion in 2025.
Emmanuel Emefienim, the bank’s managing director and chief executive officer, stated that the upgrades validate the foundational principles established at PremiumTrust Bank. “From our inception, we have focused on establishing our presence and building a robust institution that can compete in the Nigerian banking sector,” he said.
Emefienim emphasized the bank’s commitment to turning its recent success into sustainable growth. “We are strengthening our balance sheet, expanding our physical and digital presence, and investing in the capabilities needed to serve our customers and support the businesses and communities we operate in,” he added.
The credit rating agencies highlighted the bank’s strong capitalization, noting its capital adequacy ratio increased from 20.8% to 40.8%, with a liquidity ratio at 71.1% and a net interest margin of 83.3%. The bank’s asset quality also remained commendable, with a non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of 0.2%, while its cost-to-income ratio stood at 23.2%.
In just four years of operation, PremiumTrust Bank has expanded to 33 branches across Nigeria and continues to invest in digital banking initiatives.
