Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Former PDP Chairman, Dies at 90
Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a notable Nigerian businessman, has passed away at the age of 90. His family confirmed his death to TRT Afrika, stating that he died on Saturday at his home in Abuja after a prolonged illness.
Tukur’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday at the Lamido of Adamawa’s Palace in Yola, Adamawa State. He is survived by 17 children.
A prominent figure in Nigerian politics, Tukur served as the governor of the former Gongola State during Nigeria’s Second Republic, a region later divided into Adamawa and Taraba states. He also held the position of Minister of Industries under General Sani Abacha’s military regime and previously sought to contest the presidency.
Tukur’s leadership within the PDP marked him as a significant player in Nigeria’s political landscape, where he contributed to the party’s direction and influence over the years.
