Face Kano politics, stop insulting Benue people — Alia’s aide tells Kwankwaso
The Chief Press Secretary to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, Sir Tersoo Kula, has responded to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso regarding his recent remarks about the governor. Kula urged Kwankwaso to concentrate on political matters in Kano and to respect the electoral mandate granted to Alia by the people of Benue State.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Kula described Kwankwaso’s comments as an “unfortunate and unwarranted insult,” asserting that such statements do not contribute to constructive political dialogue. He attributed Kwankwaso’s grievances to the controversy surrounding a visit by Peter Obi to Benue, claiming that the former Kano governor incorrectly accused Alia of obstructing the visit.
Kula further alleged that Obi’s trip was orchestrated by individuals with the intent to undermine Alia’s reputation. He defended Alia’s election, emphasizing that the governor was duly elected by the citizens of Benue and merits respect regardless of political differences.
Kula advised Kwankwaso to address the challenges his party is currently facing in Kano instead of interfering in the affairs of Benue State or commenting on the relationship between Alia and Senator George Akume.
“Kwankwaso should face Kano politics. He has enough to explain regarding why his party performed poorly in the last by-elections conducted in his state. He must respect the people’s mandate in Benue and offer ideas, not insults,” Kula stated.
The governor’s spokesperson called on Kwankwaso to refrain from what he termed insults directed at the people of Benue, asserting that citizens are capable of evaluating their government and determining their political future.
