‘I hate Peter Obi’s ‘go and verify’ approach – Umahi
Minister of Works David Umahi criticized the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, for his frequent use of the phrase “go and verify.”
In a video that gained significant attention on Wednesday, Umahi expressed his frustration with Obi’s repeated emphasis on this statement when discussing his policies, records, and governance claims.
The minister’s remarks come in response to Obi’s practice of urging the public to independently assess and verify his assertions, particularly regarding governance, public expenditure, and his tenure in office.
“I hate hearing this statement he always makes, ‘go and verify,’” Umahi said.
Obi has consistently employed the phrase to encourage individuals to corroborate his claims against available data and documents instead of accepting them at face value. He has framed this approach as an invitation for scrutiny, particularly concerning his time as governor, economic policies, and public financial management.
