BREAKING: NLC declares indefinite strike in Delta over death in secretariat

The Delta State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has initiated an indefinite strike following the death of Mr. Unity Adedah, a deputy director in the state’s Ministry of Secondary Education.

State NLC Chairman Goodluck Oforbruku announced the strike on Friday while addressing a gathering of protesting civil servants at the Chike Edozien Secretariat in Asaba.

Prior to the announcement, civil servants had closed off the State Secretariat in Asaba in response to Adedah’s death. Reports indicate that he died after being assaulted by thugs, an act purportedly ordered by Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, the Commissioner for Secondary Education in Delta State.

The circumstances surrounding Adedah’s death have sparked significant unrest among the labor community and heightened tensions within the state’s educational sector.
