I’ve never betrayed Tinubu’s trust – Gbajabiamila
Lagos – Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, reaffirmed his loyalty to the President and denied any wrongdoing regarding recent allegations tied to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). He made his comments during the 2026 Mega Empowerment Programme held at the National Stadium in Surulere on Saturday.
In response to scrutiny stemming from various investigations, including one by the House of Representatives, Gbajabiamila emphasized that he has been cleared of any accusations against him.
“The past few months have tested me in ways I never expected. Stories were written, strange accusations were made, lies were told, and my integrity was questioned,” he said, addressing the audience.
He assured attendees that the investigative reports were now available to the public, highlighting that proper procedures had been followed throughout the investigations. According to Gbajabiamila, there was external pressure on some individuals to condemn him before the investigations concluded.
“Mr. President knows his Chief of Staff very well. Having worked closely with me for many years, he was therefore supremely confident that I was not in any way involved in those nefarious things,” he stated, affirming Tinubu’s trust in him.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives insisted that these allegations would not hinder his ability to perform his duties. “No amount of money, no amount of blackmail or lies, whether sponsored from within or outside, will detract me from my work and the work Mr. President has given me to do,” he asserted.
Gbajabiamila also reflected on his long-standing relationship with Tinubu, reiterating his commitment to the President’s agenda. “In politics, loyalty is the currency we spend the most. I have been with Mr. President for many years. I did not question his leadership and never betrayed his trust in me. I stayed loyal then and I remain loyal now. My commitment to his Renewed Hope agenda is unshaken,” he said.
During the empowerment programme, Gbajabiamila announced that around 5,000 individuals from Surulere would benefit from the initiative, which included cash support, vehicles, electric tricycles, buses, security patrol vehicles, and an ambulance.
Lagos State Deputy Governor and APC governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, commended Gbajabiamila for his ongoing support of his constituents and urged support for Tinubu’s re-election, emphasizing the President’s dedication to the APC and the development of the party.
