Gov Oyebanji dissolves boards, terminates political appointments
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has authorized the immediate dissolution of all boards, commissions, and parastatals in the state, and has terminated the appointments of certain political appointees.
This announcement was made by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, in a statement released from Ado Ekiti on Sunday.
The terminations affect a range of positions, including Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, and Technical Assistants. Oyebode indicated that this move is part of the gradual winding down of the governor’s first term as he prepares for his second-term inauguration, scheduled for October 16, 2026.
Notably, the dissolution does not impact statutory bodies such as the State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, and Judicial Service Commission.
According to Oyebode, the chairpersons of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Local Government Service Commission, and Teaching Service Commission will retain their positions, despite the dissolution of their respective boards. Additionally, the Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the governor will remain in their roles unaffected by the recent changes.
