Tinubu can rule Nigeria from anywhere – Presidency insists
The Nigerian Presidency has emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is capable of governing the country from any location.
In a statement released on Sunday, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, asserted that Tinubu does not need to be physically present in Abuja to fulfill his presidential duties. Onanuga confirmed that the President is “hale and hearty.”
The statement comes amid growing public concern regarding Tinubu’s extended vacation, which has surpassed the official three-week limit. Many Nigerians anticipated his return last week.
Opposition leaders have raised questions about the President’s whereabouts and the duration of his absence. In response, Onanuga reiterated that Tinubu has been engaged in a “working vacation.”
“In this digital age, he does not need to be physically present in Abuja to do the work for which he was elected in 2023,” Onanuga stated. He also noted that Tinubu has been active in international engagements, including recent meetings with investors in France. One notable achievement mentioned was the facilitation of a $7 billion deep-sea port project in Ogun Waterside, initiated by the Ogun State Government.
