‘Don’t stand and just criticise, propose solutions’ — RMD urges Nigerians
Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Richard Mofe-Damijo, widely known as RMD, has called on Nigerians to shift their focus from merely critiquing the country’s challenges to actively seeking solutions during a recent address at the 2026 Pivot Nigeria Conference in Lagos.
Mofe-Damijo acknowledged the various difficulties facing Nigeria but emphasized the importance of not only identifying these issues but also working to resolve them. “There are problems, but we need to fix them. Don’t stand and just criticize and propose no solution,” he stated.
He urged Nigerians to hold their political leaders accountable, noting the necessity for elected officials to understand their responsibility to the citizens they represent. “We don’t hold leadership accountable enough,” he remarked.
The actor emphasized that citizens play a crucial role in ensuring that public officials recognize their accountability. He also reminded individuals that their personal actions reflect on Nigeria’s image, especially abroad. “Just remember who you are. You are an ambassador, not just for yourself, your parents or your school, but ultimately for your country,” he added.
Describing Nigeria as a “work in progress,” Mofe-Damijo called for patience and a continued commitment from both citizens and leaders to foster national development.
