Bandits reportedly kill three Kebbi vigilantes returning from Niger
Three vigilantes from the Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State were reportedly killed by bandits while returning from Agwara in Niger State.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, was shared on social media by crisis reporter Bakatsine, who focuses on the North-West region.
The victims have been identified as Abubakar Mai Nera, the vigilante commander of Saminaka, along with Tanko Sarki and Amadu Saminaka, all of whom hailed from the Saminaka and Bakinturu communities.
According to local sources cited by Bakatsine, the attack took place near Kasabo, Binuwa, and Mago, areas adjacent to the River Kwara along the Niger-Kebbi border. Reports indicate that the attackers set the victims ablaze following the assault.
As of Wednesday, the bodies of the three vigilantes had not yet been recovered. Search efforts by local authorities and residents are ongoing as they seek to locate the victims and gather additional information about the incident.
