Nations League: Portugal coach Jesus clears air on Ronaldo refusing to train
Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus addressed recent reports regarding captain Cristiano Ronaldo’s training participation, asserting that the forward did not refuse to train.
Speculation arose after Ronaldo reportedly expressed frustration over not playing in Portugal’s 2-1 victory against Norway during the Nations League match on Sunday. In response to the situation, the Portuguese Football Federation convened an emergency meeting involving Ronaldo and Jesus to address the matter.
However, Jesus emphasized that there were no conflicts between himself and the iconic player.
“Cristiano Ronaldo did not refuse to train,” Jesus told reporters. “There are no issues. Cristiano told me: if you want me to play, I’ll play. If you want me to sit on the bench, I will. If you want me in the stands, I will.”
