Nigerian Army Safely Detonates Improvised Explosive Device in Borno State
GWOZA, Nigeria — Troops from the Nigerian Army successfully located and detonated a pressure-plate Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State on September 28, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.
The incident took place around 3:50 p.m. when soldiers from the 26 Task Force Brigade discovered the device roughly 400 meters off a road near their position.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was promptly dispatched to handle the situation. The team was able to render the device safe before conducting a controlled detonation in the area.
No casualties were reported, and sources informed Makama that the successful disposal of the IED averted a potential threat to both military personnel and civilians traveling on nearby roads.
