Kano village head found dead days after abduction
KANO, Nigeria — Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, the village head of Aujarawar Alkali in the Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, has been found dead several days after his abduction by suspected bandits.
Ahmad was taken from his home during a night raid on September 17, 2026. His body was later discovered in a shallow grave in Danladin Gezawa by local residents.
Musa Garba, a resident of the area, confirmed to reporters that the grave was found four days after the kidnapping, prompting community members to alert one another.
“I attended the funeral prayers today, Wednesday, at around 3 p.m. The assailants tortured the village head to death by cutting off one of his legs and tying his hands behind him,” Garba said. “He was brutalized until he died.”
Garba further noted that Ahmad’s wife was able to identify his remains after they were recovered and taken to a local hospital. He stated that the body was decomposing when it was found and was buried after the hospital confirmed his death.
As of the time of this report, the Kano State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
