BREAKING: Tinubu signs 2025 budget amendment bill
President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill for 2025, which extends the deadline for budget implementation from September 30, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced the development in a statement on Wednesday. The signing occurred one day after the National Assembly approved the bill, with both the Senate and the House of Representatives voting in favor on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The extension is intended to provide Ministries, Departments, and Agencies additional time to complete ongoing capital projects and ensure that allocated funds are fully utilized, without compromising essential government programs.
In his statement, Tinubu praised the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their swift action in passing the bill, noting that it exemplifies effective cooperation between the Executive and Legislative branches in the interest of the nation.
