One Dead, Three Injured in Lagos Car Crash
LAGOS—A fatal accident along the Coastal Road, near Eko Hotel, resulted in one death and three serious injuries on Friday. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the incident involved a Lexus Jeep 350 with the registration number LSD 554 KV.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into a roadside pole and overturned.
Emergency responders, including LASTMA officers monitoring traffic in the area, quickly arrived at the scene. They secured the section of the road and facilitated urgent medical assistance for the injured. With the help of bystanders, the three victims were extracted from the wreckage and transported to Duck-Yard Hospital within the Military Zone for treatment.
The situation was brought under control as relevant emergency services initiated rescue operations and investigations. Additional security personnel from Victoria Island were also deployed to the scene.
To prevent further accidents, LASTMA officers removed the damaged vehicle from the roadway, allowing for a return to normal traffic flow.
Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists to drive cautiously. He emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and traffic regulations, warning that reckless driving can have serious consequences for all road users.
Bakare-Oki also called on motorists and the public to report accidents, vehicle breakdowns, and other emergencies promptly through the agency’s toll-free number for swift intervention.
