Yobe CP orders probe into alleged murder, child cruelty

Yobe State Police Launch Investigations into Murder and Child Cruelty Cases
DAMATURU, Yobe State — The Commissioner of Police for Yobe State, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has directed a comprehensive investigation into two separate incidents involving alleged murder and child abuse, resulting in the detention of three suspects.
In a press release issued on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Yusuf Adamu Ali detailed the investigations. On September 30, police operatives received a distress call concerning a deceased farm worker, Inusa Abdullahi, from Kazaure, Jigawa State. His body was discovered abandoned in the bushes near Rini-Kunu Village, located in the Bursari Local Government Area. Following the recovery of the body, detectives transported Abdullahi to the Specialist Hospital in Gashua, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Abdullahi’s death followed alleged accusations of water-pump generator theft made by a local resident, Audu Auta. It is reported that Auta informed a vigilante, Malah Muhammad Ibrahim, who, along with an accomplice, Abubakar Bulama, is said to have restrained and assaulted Abdullahi on a farm in an attempt to extract a confession. The victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Ibrahim and Bulama have been apprehended and are currently under interrogation to ascertain the full scope of their involvement and to identify any additional suspects.
In a separate incident in the Jakusko Local Government Area, police arrested a 35-year-old Arabic teacher, Muktar Haruna, on October 1. Haruna allegedly chained his nine-year-old pupil for a period of four months. The arrest followed an intelligence report regarding the child’s abuse. Haruna, a resident of Garin Baduku Village and originally from Hadejia LGA in Jigawa State, was apprehended by Jakusko Division operatives.
The victim has since been rescued and is receiving medical care at the General Hospital in Jakusko.
Commissioner Jibrin condemned the acts of jungle justice and the mistreatment of vulnerable individuals. He urged community members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to report any criminal activities directly to the police.
