Niger police arrest security guard over alleged killing of 11-year-old girl

SULEJA, Niger State — The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old security guard, Godwin Dauda, in connection with the alleged killing of an 11-year-old girl, Christabel Albert.
Albert was reported missing on September 19, 2026, after she left home to attend a relative’s birthday celebration and did not return. Her remains were later discovered inside a well on the grounds of the Apostolic Church in Suleja.
In a statement issued Friday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed that the body was recovered and transported to Suleja General Hospital for examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities stated that the investigation led to Dauda’s arrest. He works as a security officer at the church and resides in Kuje, an area within the Federal Capital Territory. During interrogation, Dauda allegedly confessed to taking the girl to his room, where he sexually assaulted her, resulting in her death. He reportedly stated that he disposed of her body by placing it in the well.
Dauda has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation and potential prosecution.
