Three Suspects Arrested in Oyo State for Murder and Armed Robbery

OYO, Nigeria — The Oyo State Police Command has announced the arrest of three individuals linked to a violent robbery that resulted in the death of a woman in Ibadan.

The arrests were detailed in a statement issued on Saturday by Olayinka Ayanlade, the Public Relations Officer of the command. According to Ayanlade, the suspects are part of an armed robbery gang responsible for an attack on August 4, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m. in the Wofun Olodo area of Ibadan.

During the robbery, the suspects reportedly targeted the home of Alhaji Olatokunbo, where Wahab Rukayat, 44, was killed and several other residents sustained serious injuries. The attackers also stole a range of valuables, including mobile phones, wristwatches, and approximately $400 in cash, amounting to an estimated total of ₦3.493 million.

The suspects, identified as Akinrinola Oluwatobi, Okunola Mathew, and Ibrahim Rabiu, remain in police custody. Authorities recovered an iPhone 7 Plus from one of the suspects, which belonged to a victim of the earlier attack.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as the police continue to gather evidence related to the case.
