Ballon d’Or 2026: He really stands out – Emile Heskey picks player to win award
Emile Heskey, a former international footballer for England, has endorsed Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal as the frontrunner for the 2026 Ballon d’Or. Heskey’s comments come ahead of the announcement of this year’s Ballon d’Or winner, scheduled for later this month in London.
The Ballon d’Or organizers have shortlisted 30 players for the prestigious award, with Yamal standing out to Heskey among the contenders, including Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.
In a statement to Casinolyze, which was subsequently reported by Bavarian Football Works, Heskey remarked, “Unfortunately for Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal really stands out. He is the next face of football that everyone is pushing, so it makes sense for whoever is voting to lean that way. I think he will get the nod this year.”
