Alleged matchet attack: Police urge victims to lay formal complaints

Akwa Ibom Police Urge Victims of Robbery to Come Forward

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command is calling on individuals who have been victims of machete attacks and robberies to formally report these incidents at their nearest police station.

Concerns have surfaced on social media regarding a suspected assailant armed with a machete, who is reportedly targeting residents in the Osongama and Four Lanes areas of Uyo.

In a statement released Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John emphasized the importance of detailed reports from victims. She requested information including the date, time, and location of the incidents, a description of the suspect, items stolen, and any other relevant evidence.

John stated that this information will aid investigators in examining the allegations, establishing the facts, and identifying the suspect.

Additionally, the police are encouraging members of the community who have credible information that may assist in the investigation to reach out to law enforcement.

In light of these recent events, John also advised residents to remain calm, avoid confronting individuals suspected of carrying weapons, and report any suspicious activities to the police immediately. She cautioned against spreading unverified information that could contribute to unnecessary fear or panic within the community.
