Suspected Lakurawa terrorists kill expatriate, two others in Kebbi attack


Three people were killed and two others were injured in a gunfire incident at a construction site along the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway in the Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The victims included two security personnel and an expatriate involved in the road construction project, while the injured are two local civilians who sustained gunshot wounds.

The attack occurred at the construction site in Gubba Village, Andarai District, according to Superintendent Bashir Usman, the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer. Usman reported that the assailants, believed to be affiliated with Lakurawa terrorists operating from the Kebbe area of neighboring Sokoto State, opened fire on the workers at the site.

The injured civilians were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Usman also mentioned that a separate attack attributed to the same group was thwarted on the same day near the Birnin Malam region by police forces.

In response to the incidents, joint security teams have been deployed to the area to enhance security measures and prevent further violence. Following the attack, construction activities at the site have been temporarily suspended as law enforcement agencies increase surveillance and provide additional personnel.

The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of workers involved in the project and encouraged them to remain calm as efforts continue to protect lives and property in the region.
