Bauchi police arrest four men over alleged rape, defilement of minors

Four Arrested in Bauchi State for Alleged Sexual Offenses
The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended four men in connection with alleged sexual offenses involving three girls aged 10, 11, and 12, as well as a 20-year-old woman described by authorities as vulnerable. The arrests were made following reports of incidents occurring between October 8 and 10 in Ningi, Azare, Shira, and Bauchi metropolis.
According to a statement from the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the first arrest involved a 50-year-old man named Musa Ibrahim, commonly known as Musa Fawa. He was detained for the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old girl in Gadar Maiwa village, Ningi Local Government Area. The girl’s father reported the incident to the police on October 9, stating that the suspect had reportedly lured his daughter into a guinea corn farm behind their residence. Medical examinations at General Hospital Ningi confirmed signs of sexual assault.
In a separate case in Azare, law enforcement apprehended a 20-year-old man, Yakubu Musa, for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl. Investigators revealed that Musa had lured the girl into an empty classroom at Bakoshi Primary School on multiple occasions during September and October. Following the incident, the victim was evaluated at General Hospital Azare, where evidence of sexual assault was also noted.
In Shira Local Government Area, a 40-year-old man, Abdullahi Sule, was arrested for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl in Dago village. The victim’s father notified the Yana Police Division on October 8. Investigation indicated that Sule had enticed the girl on four separate occasions with N500 each time. The victim has since been rescued and provided with medical care.
Additionally, a 55-year-old man, John Madaki, was taken into custody for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman with an intellectual disability. The woman’s parents reported the incident on October 10, claiming that Madaki had lured their daughter with a promise of N1,000 before engaging in sexual intercourse. The suspect was arrested, and the victim was transported to the Police Clinic in Bauchi for medical examination.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu condemned the alleged offenses, labeling them as “abominable and inhuman acts.” He ordered that all four cases be transferred immediately to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
The police reiterated their commitment to combatting sexual and gender-based violence, especially against minors and vulnerable individuals. The command emphasized its zero-tolerance policy regarding such offenses and urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to local authorities promptly.
