Osun State Police Arrest Suspect in Alleged Sexual Assault Case
The Osun State Police Command has taken a 45-year-old man, Adeyemo Mukaila, into custody in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a victim in the Ilupeju area of Ikire.
According to law enforcement authorities, Mukaila was apprehended by concerned members of the public following an incident that reportedly occurred after he called the victim to his residence to collect personal items. Mukaila, described as a friend of the victim’s grandmother, frequently visited her home where the victim resided.
Police stated that the alleged assault took place in September 2026, when Mukaila is accused of inviting the victim into his room and sexually assaulting her. Further allegations emerged on October 2, the victim’s birthday, when she visited Mukaila at his workshop in Ikire, bringing biscuits as a gift. Authorities allege that he then dragged her into a nearby bush and assaulted her again.
Witnesses reported that Mukaila fled the scene upon realizing that passersby had observed the encounter. Commuters pursued the victim, who recounted the events to them. Subsequently, they located Mukaila, apprehended him, and brought him to the police.
The Osun State Police Command has urged parents and community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior or criminal activity to local law enforcement or through designated emergency channels.
