Trump Endorses Netanyahu Ahead of Israel’s October 27 Election
In a recent social media post, President Donald Trump extended his endorsement to Israel’s incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is currently in a tight race for parliamentary elections set for October 27.
On Sunday, Trump commended Netanyahu as a key ally of the United States in its efforts against Iran and declared his “Complete and Total Endorsement” of the Israeli leader on the platform Truth Social.
“BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump wrote.
The endorsement arrives just nine days before the Israeli election, following speculation about whether Trump would support Netanyahu at all. Earlier this month, in an interview with Time magazine, Trump refrained from endorsing Netanyahu, even as he was pressed on the Israeli leader’s job performance. Instead, Trump shifted the focus to his own approval ratings and security matters in the Middle East.
Although Trump and Netanyahu have met multiple times since January 2025, reports have surfaced detailing their disagreements on various issues, including strategies related to the ongoing conflict with Iran. In June, Trump reportedly expressed his frustration with Netanyahu in a phone call, referring to him as “f***ing crazy” over Israel’s military actions in Lebanon.
Trump had previously urged Netanyahu to refrain from further actions in Lebanon to maintain a ceasefire with Iran. The United States and Israel jointly initiated military actions against Iran on February 28, but these developments have strained Trump’s domestic support. A recent Pew Research Center poll indicated that about two-thirds of U.S. voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of the war, which has adversely affected fuel prices and raised concerns about military resource depletion.
As Trump’s Republican Party prepares for crucial midterm elections on November 3, which will determine control of Congress and other state-level offices, experts suggest that his previous hesitancy to endorse Netanyahu may stem from public sentiment regarding Israel’s influence on U.S. military engagements.
Netanyahu’s Likud Party and its far-right coalition face increasing competition from an opposition bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar party in the upcoming elections.
In his endorsement, Trump emphasized the imminent threat posed by Iran, asserting that the country has been “systematically destroyed, both Militarily and Financially,” and warned that if Israel does not have the right leadership, the U.S. may have to intervene.
“Bibi Netanyahu has been Strong, Brave, and Brilliant in the face of tremendous opposition,” Trump concluded, underscoring his support for the Israeli leader as critical in the context of regional stability.
