NSCDC arrests suspected drug pusher disguised as commercial driver in Zamfara

Zamfara NSCDC Arrests Man for Allegedly Transporting Illegal Drugs

GUSAU, Zamfara State — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 24-year-old man, Abdulraheed Abdullahi, for allegedly transporting suspected illegal drugs while operating as a commercial driver.

The arrest occurred at a checkpoint in the Anka Local Government Area, where NSCDC officers apprehended Abdullahi. He was subsequently presented to reporters at the NSCDC state headquarters in Gusau by Acting Senior Commander of Intelligence (ASCI) Umar Mohammad M. on behalf of the state commandant, Sani Mustapha.

Umar disclosed that following the arrest, the case was transferred from the corps’ Anka Divisional Office to the state headquarters for further investigation.

Abdullahi, a resident of Bagega village in Anka LGA, was reportedly found with the drugs concealed in a carton of Indomie noodles. He allegedly claimed to have received the package from a fellow transport union member who is currently at large. The seized items included 50 sachets of Lara Tramadol, two leather packages containing suspected methamphetamine, 1,000 Diazepam tablets labeled D5, and two tied packs of cannabis.

In response to the incident, Umar stated that the state commandant has ordered the case be referred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for additional investigation and appropriate action. He reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to transparency and collaboration with other security agencies in addressing drug-related offenses.

“The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) remains resolute in combatting criminal activities,” Umar emphasized, warning that anyone arrested would face thorough investigation and possible prosecution.

He noted that under the leadership of Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the NSCDC aims to ensure civil access to justice and has implemented measures to prevent and eliminate illegal activities within the nation. The Zamfara command, led by Sani Mustapha, has established protocols to address threats to peace and security in the state, collaborating with other agencies to protect the community’s social and economic welfare.
