BREAKING: One dead, several feared trapped as building collapses in Lagos

A two-storey building under construction collapsed early Friday in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State, resulting in one confirmed death and multiple individuals reportedly trapped beneath the debris.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) announced the incident in a statement from its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu. The agency received a distress call at 12:10 a.m., triggering the activation of its Cobra Response Team.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene just two minutes later and found that the structure had indeed collapsed. According to Oke-Osanyintolu, search and rescue operations commenced promptly as preliminary assessments suggested that construction workers may still be trapped under the rubble.
Rescue teams initiated efforts to locate and evacuate those in need while taking precautions to ensure the safety of both victims and rescue personnel. LASEMA continues to work at the site to determine if additional individuals require assistance.
