2027: Obi couldn’t confront Anambra’s erosion, he lacks leadership traits — Tinubu

Tinubu Criticizes Obi’s Leadership at APC Rally in Uyo
UYO, Akwa Ibom – President Bola Tinubu criticized Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), for his management of erosion issues in Anambra State, raising questions about his leadership capabilities as the 2027 general election approaches.
Speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday, Tinubu urged voters to reject Obi in the upcoming presidential election. He drew comparisons between Obi’s record in Anambra and his own efforts to address coastal challenges in Lagos, as well as those of Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno.
“He’s in one party, called NDC, who is running for President; he ran away from erosion in Anambra State. He could not confront erosion,” Tinubu said, asserting that he managed to tackle the Atlantic Ocean’s challenges for the benefit of Lagos residents.
Tinubu emphasized Eno’s efforts in Akwa Ibom, saying, “Umo Eno confronted the erosion in Akwa Ibom, and it’s working for you.” He further questioned Obi’s leadership skills, citing the former governor’s departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his move to the NDC as indicative of a deficiency in political leadership.
“They lack leadership character and traits,” Tinubu stated, critiquing Obi’s decision to leave the PDP after previously holding significant positions within the party. “If a man who was once a baby of PDP became a father of PDP and then, because of a little inconvenience, ran away from that party, is that a leadership trait?” he asked.
Tinubu also cast doubt on Obi’s qualifications to lead the nation, telling supporters that the former Anambra governor was not equipped for the role. “And he wants you to vote for him; it’s not for banana. He cannot put a house in order,” the President remarked.
The rally was part of Tinubu’s visit to Akwa Ibom, during which he also inaugurated projects initiated under Eno’s administration before attending the APC gathering.
