Anambra will deliver over 50% of 2027 votes to Tinubu — Soludo

Anambra Governor Commits to Deliver Votes for Tinubu in 2027 Elections
By Vincent Ujumadu
AWKA, Nigeria – Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has pledged to secure at least 50 percent of the state’s votes for President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Soludo made this commitment during the kickoff of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) campaign at Ekwueme Square in Awka. He stated that APGA would not field its own presidential candidate and, instead, has chosen to endorse Tinubu as its preferred candidate.
“Today, we adopt the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as our candidate,” Soludo announced, adding that Tinubu has shown care for the Igbo people, especially the residents of Anambra State.
The governor highlighted Tinubu’s previous support for Anambra indigenes, recalling his appointments to key positions during his tenure as governor of Lagos State.
Soludo noted that APGA has a history of backing the ruling party’s presidential candidate in past elections. He emphasized that the decision to support Tinubu in 2027 continues a longstanding political arrangement.
He expressed disappointment over the low turnout for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, where Anambra recorded fewer than 5,000 votes for him. Nevertheless, Soludo acknowledged Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to address challenges in both Anambra and the broader Southeast region.
The governor urged the electorate in Anambra to rally behind Tinubu in the 2027 elections, asserting that a strong showing would enhance the state’s ability to engage with the federal government for developmental needs.
“We need to vote for him in order to sit with the government at the center and negotiate for the development of the Southeast and Anambra State,” Soludo stated.
