LONDON — Kolu, a Nigerian content creator, was arrested in the United Kingdom on Wednesday following a confrontation with immigration authorities.

The arrest came after Kolu was unable to locate his passport while attempting to board a flight back to Nigeria. Nigerian musician Candy Bleakz, who sponsored Kolu’s trip, shared the details of the incident in a video on her Instagram account.

In her account, Bleakz explained that she had previously cautioned Kolu about the importance of returning to Nigeria, noting that his absence could have significant repercussions for her. As they prepared to leave, Kolu’s inability to find his passport led to a miscommunication with the immigration officers, which escalated into an altercation.

“I told Kolu to remain calm and search thoroughly for his passport. After it became clear he could not find it, I suggested we inform the immigration staff. Instead, he reacted poorly,” Bleakz said in her video.

Bleakz mentioned that she has been at the police station since the incident, working to communicate with the authorities. She expressed concerns that deportation could adversely affect Kolu’s passport status.
