President Tinubu Hosts Ramadan Iftar Dinner for State Governors

ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu hosted a Ramadan Iftar dinner for state governors on Monday evening at the Presidential Villa. This marks the third consecutive year that the President has held this event.

The gathering included governors, deputy governors, and high-ranking officials who joined Tinubu to break their fast. Among the attendees were Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Usman Ododo of Kogi, Babagana Zulum of Borno, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Mohammed Bago of Niger, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, and Agbu Kefas of Taraba. The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State also participated.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and various ministers were present at the dinner, which is part of Tinubu’s annual tradition of hosting political leaders during the holy month of Ramadan.

In previous years, the President has used the occasion to emphasize unity and effective governance. At the 2025 Iftar, he urged governors and ministers to prioritize the welfare of citizens, stating, “do more for your people.” He also expressed the importance of viewing Nigeria as one community, transcending religious and ethnic differences.

Tinubu is anticipated to host additional Iftar meetings with senior government officials, traditional leaders, and members of the diplomatic community before the conclusion of Ramadan.
