I was rejected at some shows because I sing in Yoruba – Asake

Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, known professionally as Asake, shared insights into the challenges he faced as a burgeoning artist during an interview with Famous TV.
Asake reflected on a period in his career when show promoters were hesitant to book him due to his preference for singing primarily in Yoruba. Despite these early rejections, he expressed gratitude for not altering his musical style.
He attributed his success to resilience and a steadfast belief in his artistry. “How I got to where I am today is by God’s grace, self-belief, consistency, and endurance,” he stated. “At some point, a lot of people said no to me; they didn’t allow me to perform at shows because I spoke Yoruba. But thank God I didn’t stop, and I kept believing in myself.”
Asake’s perseverance has paid off, and he celebrates his achievements. “Now, look at where I am today. I am so happy for myself,” he remarked.
