Nollywood Actor Baba Ijesha Claims Betrayal After Prison Release
LAGOS—Olanrewaju Omiyinka, the Nollywood actor known professionally as Baba Ijesha, has spoken out for the first time since his recent release from prison, asserting that human beings possess greater cruelty than snakes. His remarks come three months after he completed a five-year sentence for sexual assault charges.
In 2021, Baba Ijesha faced allegations from comedian Damilola Adekoya, better known as Princess, who accused him of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old foster daughter at her home. Ijesha was convicted in 2022 and subsequently imprisoned in Lagos State.
He regained his freedom in November 2025 and has since released a music video where he claims he was framed by Princess. In the video, he shared his perspective on the events leading to his imprisonment.
“I ended up in Kirikiri prison because of a woman. She asked them to silence me so that my voice must not be heard,” Baba Ijesha stated. He recounted a specific incident from April 21, 2021, when Princess invited him to her home under the guise of preparing his favorite meal. He described being set up for a role in a nonexistent movie, asserting that there was no film project, only a plot against him.
Baba Ijesha urged his fans to exercise caution when choosing friends. “The world is wicked, and human beings are more wicked than venomous snakes,” he said.
His comments have gained significant attention and highlight the complexities surrounding his personal and legal struggles.
