‘I spend N40,000 daily on electricity’ – Pete Edochie laments

Nigerian Actor Pete Edochie Critiques Access to Basic Utilities
Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has voiced concerns over the challenges of accessing basic amenities in Nigeria, particularly in light of the nation’s deteriorating economic conditions.
In a recent interview on AIT’s program JIGSAW, the 78-year-old actor disclosed that he spends approximately ₦40,000 daily on electricity and fuel for his household. This figure includes ₦10,000 for electricity and ₦30,000 for diesel.
Edochie expressed frustration over the escalating costs, emphasizing the impact on ordinary citizens. “Nobody seems to be bothered about what is happening to the common man. Why must it keep getting worse with each new day?” he questioned. He further criticized political leaders for what he perceives as neglect of the South-East region, particularly in the allocation of infrastructure such as railway transportation.
Edochie’s remarks highlight ongoing concerns regarding the accessibility and affordability of basic utilities amid widespread economic difficulties in Nigeria.
