Comedians richer than musicians – Shank Comics claims

Nigerian Skit Maker Provokes Debate on Wealth Among Comedians and Musicians

LAGOS, Nigeria — Nigerian skit maker and streamer Shank Comics has ignited a lively discussion regarding the financial success of comedians compared to musicians.

In a recent livestream, Shank Comics suggested that public perception often favors musicians as wealthier figures, primarily due to their visible displays of luxury. He pointed out that many comedians, unlike their music industry counterparts, tend to keep a lower profile regarding their finances.

Shank cited well-known Nigerian comedians Bovi and Basketmouth, asserting that they possess greater wealth than prominent Afrobeats artists such as Asake, Wizkid, and Burna Boy. According to him, these comedians prefer to invest their earnings rather than indulge in purchasing extravagant vehicles like many musicians do.

“I think there is more money in comedy than in music,” he stated. “Comedians like Bovi and Basketmouth are wealthier than Asake, Wizkid, and Burna Boy, but they focus on investments instead of flashy cars.”

He continued, emphasizing the fiscal mindfulness of comedians, saying, “Comedians are very conscious of the future, so they invest more than they spend and do not indulge in lavish luxuries.”

Shank concluded by asserting that numerous comedians possess the financial means to buy the luxury automobiles favored by musicians.
