England blow huge chance at key wicket

In the first Test, England won the toss and elected to bat. The tourists taking a chance on the Gabba pitch that did not pay off – bowled out for 147 in the first innings.

This time around, Australia won the toss and batted, sending England into the field where they have again been on the wrong end of the luck.

The lack of swing in the pitch has been highlighted across play. Especially as England send James Anderson and Stuart Broad into the attack.

“I think there’s a touch of myth about the pink ball at night,” said Fox Sports commentator Kerry O’Keefe.

“After 8:30pm, you know why people get out to it? Because they don’t pick it up in the lights.

“It’s more to do with the picking up of the ball after 8:30 at night, than actual excess movement.

“Will it swing? I don’t think it will. But it’ll be the picking up of the ball that will be the key.”
