Adamawa man arraigned for stealing 27 pieces of women’s underwear

A 27-year-old man from Adamawa State, Muktar Shehu, has been charged with theft following an incident involving the alleged theft of 27 pieces of underwear belonging to a local woman.
According to the Adamawa State Police Command, Shehu is facing multiple charges, including house trespass and criminal charm. Police Prosecutor Danjuma Hamidu presented the case before the Chief Magistrate Court 3 in Yola, where Shehu has been remanded into custody.
The charges stem from an alleged break-in at the residence of Halima Yakubu on August 6, 2026. The First Information Report filed by the prosecutor details that Shehu broke into Yakubu’s home and took the underwear.
During police questioning, Shehu reportedly admitted to stealing the items for ritualistic purposes. He hails from Zango Ward in the Yola North Local Government Area. Further legal proceedings are expected as the case develops.
