Stage Collapse at Political Rally in Osun State Sparks Panic

Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State — A political rally organized in support of Governor Ademola Adeleke turned chaotic on Wednesday when a stage collapsed while he was addressing attendees.

The incident occurred during the launch of the Imole Canvassers initiative, held by Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Accord candidate for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency. Eyewitnesses reported that the stage buckled shortly after Adeleke began his speech.

Footage of the collapse circulated on social media, showing the immediate reaction from the crowd, which briefly created a scene of confusion.

The event aimed to introduce approximately 10,000 Imole Canvassers, who are set to advocate for the governor’s administration and its policies throughout the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency and the broader Osun East Senatorial District.

Despite the mishap, officials confirmed that Governor Adeleke and other prominent political figures were unharmed. Government sources indicated that security personnel and event organizers swiftly managed the situation, restoring order at the venue.

Hon. Bamidele Salam, representing the Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency, also reassured the public regarding the Governor’s safety following the incident. Salam shared a photograph on Facebook featuring the governor alongside Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi and other party officials.

In his post, Salam expressed satisfaction with the rally, highlighting its significance in support of the governor’s initiatives.

Following confirmation that no injuries were sustained, the rally resumed, and attendees departed peacefully after the brief disruption caused by the stage collapse.
