Aliko Dangote University Cancels Student Excursion Over Security Concerns

The management of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH) has cancelled a planned student excursion to New Bussa, Niger State, due to security concerns raised by parents and stakeholders.

Vice-Chancellor Musa Tukur Yakasai made the decision after reviewing the current security situation in the area designated for a field exercise for Level 400 Fisheries students.

In a statement released by Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi, Deputy Registrar for Information and Public Affairs, it was noted that the Vice-Chancellor had already expressed reservations about the trip prior to its announcement.

“The university has directed the Department of Fisheries to identify a safer alternative for the mandatory field exercise,” the statement said. As a result, students will now conduct their exercise at Tiga Dam in Kano.

University officials reiterated their commitment to student safety. “ADUSTECH prioritizes the well-being of students, both on and off campus,” Abdullahi emphasized.

He also reassured parents that there are no plans to send students to New Bussa or any other area deemed unsafe.
