All men of God in South-East are pretenders – Joe Igbokwe hits clergymen
Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced strong criticism toward religious leaders in the South-East, accusing them of ignoring pressing security issues in the region.
In a Facebook post shared on Sunday, Igbokwe alleged that these religious figures are failing to acknowledge the ongoing violence, claiming they have remained silent despite being aware of significant threats to public safety.
“Today is Sunday, the day of the Lord,” Igbokwe stated. “All men of God in the South-East are pretending as if they do not know what has transpired in the zone over the past 15 years. They are aware of the thousands who have been killed but have chosen to remain quiet.”
Igbokwe’s remarks appear to target the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its security arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The group has been linked to numerous incidents of violence and property destruction in the South-East, prompting ongoing efforts by security forces to address the situation.
